Sughere trail connects Vibonati, Ispani and Santa Marina.
The starting point is the agriturismo - b&b “Casale il Sughero” in contrada Grasso di Vibonati. Climbing down through Santa Lucia’s pine forest you will pass near two chapels (the old one and the new one) dedicated to Saint Lucy and you also will be surrounded by cork oaks, endemic tree of this area. Walking along the old road to Vibonati you will be soon beside the village’s ridge, next to the Museum of the Peasant Culture, established by Mr. Nino Tancredi; then you will arrive under the Shrine of Sant’Antonio Abate and, later, at the Vibonati’s bridge.
The trail starts rising up Sandrala hill, rich in cork oaks and wonderful olive trees of the species “Pisciottana”; you will arrive soon at the spring that provided the water supply to the entire village until few years ago. Going on up to the Chapel of San Cataldo you will be in the municipality of Ispani: a wonderful panorama overlooking the sea and the land opens to your eyes.
Along the old paved road connecting the villages, if you go on next to the chapel of San Rocco, you will arrive in the town centre of Ispani and next, passing through the Mediterranean scrub (Arbus Unedo, Myrtus, Pistacia lentiscus, Erica), there is the hamlet San Cristoforo; you can take a break at the café, on the panoramic terrace. Going on through chestnut and oak forests, in Contrada Lampo you will find another rest stop, near the Fountain of the same name. You are now in the municipality of Santa Marina. Crossing the town centre beyond the Curch of Santa Maria della Croce, recently renovated, there is the trail goal, near Locanda La Baita.
