The Museo Diocesano of Vallo della Lucania has a collection of sacred art from all the churches of the territory.

Bishop Biagio D'Agostino got started the collection in the years 1960s-1970s; then it was enlarged in the 1980s by Bishop Giuseppe Casale who, in collaboration with the Department of Artistic and Architectural Heritage of Salerno, has established the museum and the art gallery.
The museum has several exhibition rooms: the room of the Stations of the Cross dating back to the 18th century; the room “Sala Liturgica” where are exhibit the Liturgical Vestments, Holy furnishings and silver objects. Among these, there are a 14th century Chalice made of enamelled silver and a Bridal casket, made of inlaid wood and bone. The art gallery is rich in polyptych paintings of the 15th and 16th centuries, among which the Trasfigurazione (1577) by Marco Pino da Siena and some wood carvings.

Open time
The museum is open every day, except on Sunday, from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm.
 On Monday and Saturday, it is open from 8.30 am to 1 pm. 
Guided tours on booking. In August the museum is closed, but are possible tours by reservation.

Directions to the museum:
The Museo Diocesano is on the first floor of the Diocesan Seminary of Vallo della Lucania in Via Francesco Cammarota, 2. Once in Vallo della Lucania, from the exit of the motorway follow the signs to the Hospital San Luca. From the hospital, go straight for about 400 metres and you will arrive at the Diocesan Seminary, easily recognizable on your left.
