Cascata dei Capelli di Venere

VENUS’S HAIR WATERFALL
Near Casaletto Spartano, the Rio Bussento forms the wonderful waterfall named “Venus’s hair” .

The municipality of Casaletto develops inland, near the Gulf of Policastro. The town centre is about 14 km far from the shore, 450 m above the sea level. The municipal territory has an area of about 70 km2 riches in rural hamlets and uncontaminated landscapes.

“Area Capello” is an equipped area for the waterfall’s visitors, set about 1 km from the town centre. This area is a tourist destination not only to admire the waterfall: it is the starting point of two old trails, running along the Rio, that once connected Casaletto Spartano’s centre to its mountain hamlets. Near the river there is a renovated old watermill.

The main attraction is undoubtedly the “Venus’s Hair” waterfall, near the old Norman bridge. Several boardwalks allow visitors to arrive very near the waterfall.

In the equipped area “Capello” there are barbecues and picnic covered spots surrounded by nature.
