Organized hiking tour
Time: 5,30 hours
Level: Moderate
Incline: 500 m
The hiking begins at an altitude of 1300 m, near the Campolongo Valley. The entire route is among beech forest beginning along a dirt track; after about one hour you will arrive at Raia di Campolongo ridge. Valley’s panorama accompanies the hikers for a long stretch. Turn in the direction of Fosso dell’ Erba at an altitude of about 1400 m: here begins the final climb towards Gigantini.
When you will be at 1610 m above sea level, the Valley opens to your eyes and on its edges you can admire, in the limestone blocks, some Rudists of considerable size (group of Bivalve fossils of the Cretaceous). The trip continues until arriving at the watershed of Vallivona and, after walking a bit along the Ridge, you will start climbing down towards Campolongo. You will cross the entire Valley and we suggest you to visit the Affondatore of Campolongo (a Karstic phenomenon) before return to your car.
