Serramezzana is the smallest town of the Cilento National Park, with only 300 inhabitants.
Tourists who are looking for a day full of traditions, stories, folk legends, flavours and smells of old times, should spend their time in this small town, set near seaside town such as Acciaroli, Pioppi, Agropoli, Castellabate and Casal Velino.
The small village, perched on the green mountains, is divided into two hamlets:
San Teodoro Cilento and Capograssi, where there are the remains of an ancient aqueduct surrounded by greenery, one of the most important places of the several naturalistic itineraries Cilento offers. Serramezzana is a must-see among all cultural and historical itineraries of Cilento National Park: in this beautiful town, along its narrow streets and surrounded by ancient houses, tourists can enjoy a trip back to the year 1000.
Among the architectural heritage, in the town centre is Materazzi Palace (with wonderful interior rooms, above all the majestic hall); in the historic hamlet Capograssi, St. Nicholas Church and its beautiful Byzantine cemetery are worth visiting.
Serramezzana, as well as many municipalities of Cilento, is based on ancient traditions of the peasant culture: still today many residents produce wine, figs and oil.
