Ancient fishing village, Acciaroli is one of the most precious jewels of the Cilento coast: traditional houses, narrow cobbled alleys, the intense perfume of the flowers at the windows, long sandy beaches and the crystal-blue sea make it an oasis of peace and beauty. Acciaroli is located in the municipality of Pollica, “Città slow” (International network of cities of the good life) where, through the culture of hospitality and the slowing down of the frantic rhythms of life, people try to get smells, flavors and colors of a life to live in harmony with nature and traditions.
The port, with the ancient Norman tower, next to the Church of the Annunciation, is today a famous image of South Italy. The Norman defence tower dates back to the 12th century. The square tower has been remodeled numerous times, for example in 1537 when the Spanish made it one of the defensive systems around the coast. Enjoy a walk along the splendid coast full of bays, beautiful beaches (often uncrowded even in summer), rich seabed and stretches of Mediterranean scrub.
Acciaroli is a welcoming and quaint fishing village where you can still find the ancient traditions of Cilento, in conjunction with a good organization for the modern tourist. It has been awarded “5 Sails” of Legambiente and the FEE Blue Flag.
